About University of Lagos, Akoka-Lagos, Nigeria.

The University of Lagos founded in 1962 is made up of two campuses, the main campus at Akoka, Yaba and the College of Medicine in Idi-Araba, Surulere. Both sites are in the Mainland of Lagos. The main campus is largely surrounded by the scenic view of the Lagos lagoon and is located on 802 acres of land in Akoka, North Eastern part of Yaba, Lagos, the state of excellence and aquatic splendour.

From a modest intake of 131 students in 1962, enrolment in the university has now grown to over 39,000. It has a total staff strength of 3,365 made up of 1,386 Administrative and Technical Staff, 1,164 Junior and 813 Academic Staff.

The University is comprised of nine Faculties and a College of Medicine. The Faculties offer a total of 117 programmes in Arts, Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Sciences, Business Administration and Education. UNILAG, as the university is fondly called also offers Master’s and Doctorate degrees in most of the aforementioned programmes. The University also has two Centres namely the Centre for Human Rights and the Centre for African, Regional Integration and Borderland Studies. The Distance Learning Institute (DLI) of the University offers courses in Accounting, Business Administration, Science Education and Library / Information Sciences.

Mentor's Profile

Dr. E. P. Fasina

Dr. Fash, as he is fondly called, is a dynamic, brillant and well-versed lecturer of the Department of Computer Sciences, at the University of Lagos, Akoka. He teaches courses like 'A Modern Programming Language", "Data Communications", "Computer Architecture", amongst others. He is called a "Walking encyclopaedia" because he knows virtually something about everything! The CarBurn idea originated from his great mind.

He got his first degree in Physics from the University of Lagos. He later went to Imperial College for his Masters in Data Communications.

Team Members' Profile

Jide Olatunbode
Jide, a final year student of the Department of Computer Sciences, at the University of Lagos, currently coordinates Team CarBurn. He started programming since 2000, and he specializes in Software Integration, Testing and Debugging. He programs with C# proficiently.
Jide has worked for various IT firms in Nigeria such as SystemSpecs Ltd, By-Lejid Nigeria Ltd, etc. He enjoys reading, playing chess, scoping, solving people's problems, and hanging out with friends.
Celestine Ezeokoye
Celestine is currently a second year student of the Depertment of Computer Sciences, University of Lagos, Lagos Nigeria.
After his secondary school in 2004, he did a diploma course in computer programming at IMS computer training school. From there, he got a scholarship to study for a diploma in software engineering at New Horizons Computer Learning Centre, which just begun operations in Nigeria.
He has created a number of software for individuals and organizations.
He has a broad skill in modern programming languages and software engineering.

He loves listening to music (and singing along with it). Favorites genres include Rock, Pop and RnB.
Seun Adepeju
Adepeju Oluwaseun is a year three student of the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Lagos, Akoka-Lagos, Nigeria. He is a software developer with enterprising skills and result oriented attributes. He is proficient in the use of Microsoft developer tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio (C#.NET, VB.NET, ADO.NET and ASP.NET) and also has a working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005.
Oluwaseun is an advocate of self-development with research in project management. Some of his projects include Bigplus International Concepts Ltd Digital Nervous System, Customer Relationship Management, Library Management System just to mention a few.

What's team CarBurn

We are a team of three students from the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos Nigeria.
We won the National Finals of the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2008 and would be representing Nigeria at the global finals in Paris, France.

The team members are:

Adepeju Oluwaseun, and
Ezeokoye Celestine.
